Service Exclusions

Pests & Issues We Do Not Treat

We believe in being upfront. Not every pest problem falls within standard pest control. This page lists all exclusions so you can find the right specialist quickly — without wasting a call.

Important — Read Before Calling The following pests and issues are not included in our standard pest control service. If your issue is on this list, please contact the appropriate specialist (wildlife removal, your physician, or a licensed beekeeper). We will let you know if we are unable to help so you can find the right resource.

Why These Are Excluded

Understanding Each Exclusion Category

These exclusions fall into four broad categories: wildlife/animals requiring a licensed wildlife specialist, lawn pests requiring agronomic treatment, human medical conditions requiring a physician, and insects requiring source elimination rather than chemical treatment.

Wildlife & Animals

Raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, woodchucks, snakes, lizards, and cats are handled by licensed wildlife removal operators or municipal animal control — not pest control technicians.

Who to call: Wisconsin DNR, local animal control, or a licensed wildlife removal company.

Lawn & Turf Pests

Aphids, snails, grubs, slugs, chiggers, and chinch bugs are lawn and turf pests that require agronomic or horticultural treatment programs — a different scope than structural pest control.

Who to call: A licensed lawn care service or turf agronomist. We do offer grub control as a separate lawn service.

Protected & Beneficial Insects

Honeybees are protected pollinators. Live bee colonies should be relocated, not exterminated. Bagworms and June bugs are ornamental/landscape pests best handled by arborists or landscapers.

Who to call: A local beekeeper or bee removal specialist for live colony relocation.

Drain & Fruit Flies / Gnats

Drain flies, fruit flies, and fungus gnats breed in organic matter — overripe fruit, drains with organic buildup, or moist soil. The solution is source elimination and sanitation, not chemical treatment.

What to do: Remove rotting organic material, clean drains with enzyme cleaner, and fix moisture issues.

Crane Flies & Grasshoppers

Crane flies (leatherjackets) and grasshoppers are outdoor, turf-related pests. Crane fly larvae damage turf grass and are treated agronomically; grasshoppers are migratory and require regional management.

Who to call: A licensed lawn care service with turf insect programs.

Medical Conditions: Lice, Mites & Scabies

Head lice, body lice, pubic lice, scabies mites, and demodex mites are human medical issues. Treatment requires prescription medications and medical guidance — not pest control chemicals.

Who to call: Your primary care physician, urgent care clinic, or pharmacist.

Common Questions About Our Exclusions

Does Preme Pest Control treat honeybees?

No. We do not treat honeybees. Honeybees are protected pollinators critical to Wisconsin's ecosystem and agriculture. We recommend contacting a local beekeeper or bee removal specialist for live colony relocation.

Do you treat raccoons, squirrels, or other wildlife?

No. We do not provide wildlife removal for raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, woodchucks, snakes, or lizards. Contact a licensed wildlife removal company or your local animal control department. The Wisconsin DNR maintains a list of licensed wildlife control operators.

Do you treat drain flies or fruit flies?

No. Drain flies and fruit flies are not included in standard pest control service. These breed in organic matter — overripe fruit, drain buildup, or moist soil — and the solution is source elimination: removing breeding material, cleaning drains with an enzyme cleaner, and fixing moisture issues.

Do you treat mites or scabies?

No. We do not treat mites of any kind (including bird mites, rodent mites, clover mites, or spider mites) as a standalone service, nor do we treat scabies. Scabies is a human skin condition caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei mite and requires prescription medication from a physician, not pest control treatment.

Why don't you treat lawn pests like grubs and aphids in this list?

Most lawn pests require agronomic treatment programs that differ from structural pest control. That said, we do offer grub control and surface insect control as dedicated lawn care services. The exclusions listed here refer to lawn aphids, snails, slugs, chiggers, and chinch bugs within the context of standard pest control service.

What happens if I call about something on the exclusion list?

We'll let you know right away and do our best to point you toward the right specialist. We'd rather help you find the correct resource quickly than take your money for something we can't properly treat.
